Public Works
The City of Durand's Public Works Department is responsible for managing and maintaining the infrastructure and essential services within our community. Our primary goal is to ensure that public spaces, utilities, and services function smoothly for the benefit of the public. Some of our key responsibilities include:
-
Roads and Transportation: Maintenance, repair, and construction of roads, and other transportation infrastructure. This includes things like pothole repairs, street cleaning, and traffic management systems.
-
Water and Sewage: Overseeing the water supply, wastewater treatment, and sewage systems. This includes maintaining clean water distribution and handling the treatment of wastewater to ensure safety for public health.
-
Public Buildings and Facilities: Managing public buildings like city hall, as well as out recreational facilities, parks, campground and shelters.
-
Stormwater Management: Ensuring proper drainage systems to manage rainwater and prevent flooding. This includes maintaining storm drains, retention ponds, and other flood-prevention measures.
-
Parks and Green Spaces: Developing and maintaining parks, playgrounds, and our other public outdoor spaces for community enjoyment and environmental health.
-
Other Services: We provide support for emergency response services, such as snow removal, disaster response, and other urgent infrastructure needs.
