Madison St. Project Updates
OVERVIEW OF MADISON ST. PROJECT
The 2026 Madison St. Reconstruction Project (from 2nd Ave. E to 8th Ave. W) will begin mid-April and will be completed mid-October. This project will include water, sewer and storm upgrades, street reconstruction and sidewalk replacement.

PROJECT UPDATES
Week of July 20 (updated 7/20/2026)
Work to be done:
Water/storm at 5th Ave. W. intersection
Water lines completed at 2nd Ave. E. intersection
Road re-building will start on Wed. (7/22)
Anticipated that all underground work will be completed by end of week.
Impact:
Continued street closures throughout the project.
Week of July 6 (updated 7/6/2026)
Work to be done:
Water/sewer lines replaced
Curb/gutter replaced in some areas
Continued street construction
Impact:
Continued street closures throughout the project.
Week of June 15 (updated 6/16/2026)

8th Ave. W - 7th Ave. W - Sanitary Sewer work
1st Ave - Storm tunnel work being done
4th Ave W - 2nd Ave. W - curb and gutter are being formed

Continued street closures throughout the project.

1st Ave - Exposing storm tunnel for repairs
Impact:

4th Ave. W - 1st - Xcel Energy installing power line
6th Ave. W - 8th Ave. W - Work on water mains.
Impact:
Sidewalk and street closures to be expected.
Water services will be temporarily shut off. Property owners will be notified.

Continued street work.
Water line updates (8th Ave.)
Impact:
Sidewalk and street closures to be expected.

Water lines installed from 4th Ave. W to 5th Ave. W
Power poles installed by Xcel Energy - 4th Ave. W to 1st Ave.
Impact:
Power disruptions are expected while Xcel Energy is installing power lines.
Sidewalks and street closures are to be expected.
Week of May 11 (updated 5/11/2026)
Work to be done:
Continued work on water and storm utilities (from 2nd W to 1st)
Removal of sidewalks and street work (4th W to 2nd W)
Impact:
Watch for continued street closures.
Sidewalks will be closed.

Finish sanitary sewer installation.
Continue with water/storm main installation.
Impact:
Watch for continued street closures.

Trees along construction route will be removed.
Blacktop will be removed on various blocks.
Sidewalks will remain accessible.
Some sanitary sewer replacement work may begin.
Impact:
Watch for periodic street closures.
