About Durand

Located in Pepin County, WI, the City of Durand is home to roughly 1,800 residents and is the county seat. 

As the “Gateway to the Lower Chippewa River”, Durand provides numerous recreational opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast. Enjoy a train ride into the Tiffany Bottoms on a birding expedition, enjoy a challenging round of golf, boat, canoe or kayak down the Chippewa River.  Adventure-seekers can take advantage of the numerous fishing and hunting opportunities that are available in the region or simply enjoy a bicycle trip beginning along the Chippewa River from downtown Durand to Menomonie while on the Red Cedar Trail or to Eau Claire on the Chippewa State Trail.

We invite you to enjoy a relaxing evening of music and entertainment at one of the Music in the Park events o take advantage of our world-class music festivals held during the summer months.  Attend our annual summer festival at the beginning of June or our holiday parade the Saturday following Thanksgiving.  Along with the many other events and festivities that are sure to please throughout the year.

Durand is a thriving community with a strong industrial base that includes Badger Communications, Bauer Built Tire, Black’s Valley Ag, Durand Builders, MBP, Ntec and many other industrial and commercial businesses. 

We are also fortunate to have a top-notch hospital and other medical services, an excellent K-12 school system, a modern community library and easy access to several nearby advanced learning institutions including UW-Stout, UW-Eau Claire and the Chippewa Valley Technical College, all within a short commute from Durand.
